An Introduction to the Enter Series: Portal

The Enter Series is the first set of paintings created after the birth of my son. The first set of paintings created as a mother.

No one could have prepared me for how much, I would change.

In my personal life and in my art, I am rediscovering myself and learning about who I am now.

I think differently. I feel everything more intensely. I sleep less. I’m selfless. I care less of what others may think of me. I’m present more. I smile and laugh more. I’m overflowing with love and gratitude.

Now when I physically create in the studio, it’s during a very specific, short period of time, (H’s nap/sleep times) that could end abruptly or could be extended spontaneously.

The Enter Series is the result of my new flow: patience and confidence—several layers of complexity + expression from many, many, many paint sessions, creating an entry into the special world of abstraction.

Portal, is a work that embodies what the Enter Series was trying to capture: a lure into another dimension.

Art has the ability to this; the ability to draw the viewer in, to look deeper within the four borders of a frame + deeper into themselves. Portal invites the viewer to unveil each layer, doing so, draws them deeper into another world: themselves.
